Montepulciano

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a type of red wine made from the Montepulciano wine grape in the Abruzzo region of east-central Italy. The grape is however recommended for 20 of Italy's 95 provinces. Up to 10% Sangiovese is permitted to be added to the blend. It is typically a dry wine with soft tannins, and as such is often consumed young. The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is classified as DOC and DOCG in Teramo (where it is officially called Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane). If aged by the winery for more than two years, the wine may be labeled "Riserva." This wine should not be confused with Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, a Tuscan wine made from Sangiovese and other grapes, but not the Montepulciano variety.

  2. So, I guess I have to provide the recap again... Montepulciano d'Abruzzo night began a little on the late side. Most of us didn't arrive until 9:00pm due to the fact that Jess was suffering from Lasik after effects and I refused to leave her until she was resting comfortably. An Ambien and 20 mins later, I was able to rally the Probert clan and get to Bethpage. After arriving at Phil and Jennie's, it was a hot mess from there on in. For some reason (could have been the 3 bottles of starter wine we drank), we didn't ever start tasting wine until 11:00pm. I believe it also had to do with the poor decision we made with regards to waiting for Kevin to show up. He was apparently too busy sending dirty text messages with Nicole. He ended up walking in at midnight just as we had finished tasting the last bottle of wine, but we managed to get him caught up and taste his wine as well. Jennie and Phil won again with their 2006 Vigna Franca Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. THAT'S TWO TIMES IN A ROW!!! This night was filled with stained teeth (Tara), red wine being spilled on white carpet (Tara), cigars, guitars, cats and bonfires from there on out. We all outstayed our welcome at Phil and Jennie's until about 3:00am. I really hope they continue to talk to us all. Anyway...EVERYONE GET READY OUR MONTHLY WINE CLUB'S THE 1-YEAR ANNIVERSARY EXTRAVAGANZA!!! WHAT WILL BE OUR MONTHLY WINE CLUB'S WINE OF THE YEAR?

  5. The best perk you get to enjoy when you join a wine club is the wine tasting itself. It's really fun and you get to explore different taste, texture and bubbles of wines.
